The Wood River City Council advanced the proposed Hollywood River Business District plan to a public hearing, while discussing how business-district revenue could support construction incentives and how TIF funds could be used for infrastructure. The council also approved an amended contract for the sale of 13 Whitelaw Avenue, an amendment to the Riverbend Enterprise Zone, a sidewalk contract change order and street closures for holiday events. An AmeriCares TIF assistance agreement received three yes votes and two no votes.
During public comment, Donald McMaster asked the city to consider restricting sales of liquor bottles six ounces or smaller, and TASC representative Greg Santoni described the nonprofit’s referral and deflection services for people facing substance-use, mental-health or housing challenges. A resident also asked about potential city costs and benefits tied to the Hollywood River project. Council members heard updates on police and fire commendations, Wood River Business Alliance events, the Halloween parade, and Park and Recreation programs and facilities.
