The undefeated Roxana Shells (12-0) will be hosting the Mt. Carmel Golden Aces (11-1) in an IHSA Class 3A state semifinal football game on Saturday at 3 p.m. from Charles Raich Field in Roxana.
Roxana finds itself in the state semifinals for the first time since 1987 when the team ended a 12-1 season under head coach Charles Raich.
The Shells find themselves in this position after back-to-back home wins in rounds one and two of the postseason. A comfortable 50-22 win over Paris and a thrilling 48-47 win over St. Joseph Ogden set up a quarterfinal game on the road at Stanford Olympia. The Shells were never in any danger as they dispatched the Spartans 56-30.
