Wayne of Riverbend Patriots joins Our Daily Show to discuss the Alton nonprofit’s work with veterans and first responders, including support for people experiencing homelessness. He describes plans to distribute water and hygiene products at Soldiers Memorial in downtown St. Louis and a Bloody Mary contest fundraiser at VFW Post 1308 in Alton; the fundraiser proceeds are intended to help cover the nonprofit’s operating costs.
Wayne also shares how community resources and students from Southwestern Illinois College helped renovate a home for a widowed veteran and her four children. Riverbend Patriots is based near VFW Post 1308 in Alton and welcomes volunteers with trade skills or time to contribute. The organization holds meetings on the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m.
