Steve Schwartz and Greg Erler with the East End Improvement Association join Our Daily Show to discuss preparations for Alton’s long-running Halloween Parade, which they say began in 1916. They describe more than 90 entries, five judging sections and Sam Stem of The Big Z as this year’s parade marshal.
The guests outline the parade route from Washington and Broadway down Broadway to Piasa, along with staging plans, judging and safety measures such as wheel walkers accompanying floats. They also discuss volunteers, support from Alton police and the city, and how parade participants can contact organizers about joining.
