Shirley Portwood “Bridging the Generations: Family History and Genealogy”

"Shirley Portwood holds a Ph.D in history from Washington University in Saint Louis. She is an emerita professor of Historical Studies at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the SIU System. Portwood has researched and published in Illinois history and other areas. Tell Us a Story: An African American Family in the Heartland, published by SIU Press in 2000, is her family history and autobiography."
