Yvonne Herron JERSEYVILLE-    Yvonne Paulette (Bowers) Herron, 63, died at 4:53 p.m., Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at her residence after a period of declining health.She was born in Mesquite, Texas on Aug. 11, 1953 and was the daughter of Winifred (Horton) and James Randall Bowers.Yvonne lived in Texas until the age of 11, when her family moved back to the Jerseyville area.Yvonne was in her element when we was around people, which is why she typically chose places employment where she could be of service to others.   She worked at Dairy Queen when her girls were younger, and later in life worked at Wal-Mart.   For many years, however, she worked at various nursing homes, and the residents of Greenwood Manor and Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation were the recipients of her kind heart and her encouraging words delivered in her Texas southern drawl.She married Stanley "Hawk" Herron on Aug. 15, 1998 in Gillespie, Il. and they have shared the last 18 years together.Surviving are her husband, Stanley "Hawk" Herron of Jerseyville;  two daughters & sons in law, Stephanie and WD Smith of Virden and Chastity Lacy, and her companion, Scott Whitcomb of Greenview;  Eight grandchildren, Tyler Lacy, and his wife, Abby of Murfreesboro, Tn., Troy Lacy, and his fiance' Chris Stacey of Herrin, Timothy Lacy, a student at Blackburn College in Carlinville, Terah Lacy, and her companion, Kyle Johnson of Jerseyville, Trisha Lacy of Jerseyville, Wyatt Smith, Stephen Smith and Sydney Smith all of Virden; a great grandchildren expected to arrive in June; three brothers & sisters in law, Del Ray and Ciara Horton of Duncanville, Tx., Daivd and Delia Bowers of Terrell, Texas, Larry and Judy Bowers of Tulsa, Ok, Camille Bowers of Texas, and Sheila Bowers of Jerseyville; along with a special uncle, Floyd Bowers and his wife, Marilyn of Jerseyville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her mother, Winifred (Horton) Spangle, her father, James Bowers; a sister, Randy Joann Bowers; and two brothers, Terry Bowers and Gary Bowers.Visitation will be from 4 p.m. Wednesday until time of funeral services at 7 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Cremation will take place after the services and a private burial will take place at a later date at the Summerville Cemetery, near Medora.Memorials may be given to the family in care of Crawford Funeral Home.
