Wilma J. Scheibe, 87, died at 9:05 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Brookdale Atrium in Jacksonville, FL. Born January 2, 1931 in Madison, IL, she was the daughter of Clarence A. Stephens and Della Ruth (Cummins) Stephens Volkel. Mrs. Scheibe was a homemaker and cook. On February 27, 1955 she married Leonard Scheibe in Hernandez, Mississippi. He preceded her in death on March 25, 2008.
Surviving is a daughter, Susan L. Edsall (Nathan) Of Brighton, a son, Dennis L. Scheibe (Rita) of Springfield, IL, a son-in-law, Charles Higgins of Livingston, IL, a daughter-in-law, Karen Knipping of Louisiana, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Bennie Stephens of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Kenny Volkel of Arkansas, and a sister, Peg Lovell of Oklahoma. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Higgins, a son, Michael Knipping, and a sister, Imogene Wilkinson.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Upper Alton Cemetery. Reverend Andre’ Dobson will officiate. Memorials may be made to the 5A’s Animal Shelter or a charity of choice.
