Wilma Angela Crowther, age 90, passed away at 7:10 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2013, at Jerseyville Hospital.
She was born on November 11, 1922 in Bremen, Germany, the daughter of the late Wilhelm & Juliane (Sauerberg) Arens.
She married Weber Crowther on September 23, 1952 in Bremen, Germany she then accompanied him to America. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1963.
Wilma worked as a secretary in Bremen, Germany and later in New York, NY before moving to Illinois to be closer to her family.
She is survived by two sons, William E. Deutsch of Alton and Hans Joachim & Helga Deutsch of Bonn, Germany; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Charles Deutsch & Jaynie Doerr, Jennifer & Scott Droste, Linda & Ian McAnally; Kristina & Isaac Sandidge; Weber & Amber Berry, Butch & Laura Berry, Billy & Tanya Berry, Eddie & Renee Berry, Tommy Berry and Erik & Gabriella Deutsch; eighteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Hannelore & Werner Guetschow of Oyten, Germany; one niece and her husband, Michaela & Andreas Anstipp of Oyten, Germany and two great nephews, John Hedrick and Tim Nikolaus both of Oyten, Germany.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one daughter, Karin Deutsch.
Private visitation will be on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville, IL.
Memorial may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
