William Norris "Bill" McBride, Sr

William Norris "Bill" McBride, Sr., 55, died unexpectedly at 12:28 p.m., Saturday, March 11, 2017 at his residence.He was born in Alton on Jan. 18, 1962, and was the son of Robert and Dorothy (Maple) McBride.Bill grew up in  Alton, and was a part of a very large family, that consisted of 19 other siblings.   During his later teen years, he moved to Jerseyville, and has called this place home ever since.   He was employed as a driver for Comfort Cab in Alton for many years until his retirement.Bill married Carla Grether on June 18, 2011 at an outdoor wedding at Westlake Country Club in Jerseyville, and she survives.Also surviving are his two sons, William "BJ" McBride of Pocahontas, Arkansas and Kyle McBride, and his companion, HarleighWoolsey of Wilsonville; two steps and and their wives, Jason and Misty Grether of Bunker Hill and Donald and Marissa Ennis Jr. of Alton; 13 Grandchildren; eight sisters, Mary Arbogast of Jerseyville, Phyllis Inlow of Alton, Helen "Red" Springer, Barbara Markle and Pat Marshall all of Jerseyville, Debbie Lane of Alton, Dixie Chappelear of Pocahantas, Ar., and Tammy White of Chicago; seven brothers, Gary Drake of Texas, Harold McBride of Dow, Jim McBride of Marion, Brian McBride of Brighton, Lloyd McBride of Troy, Ed McBride of Godrey, and Robert McBride Jr.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne McBride and Ronald Drake; along with two infant sisters, Dorothy Leah McBride and Carol Jean McBride.His body has been cremated, and a memorial visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.In lieu of any flowers or plants, memorials would be appreciated to his family in care of the funeral home.
