William Murph Manus, Sr., 86, passed away 7:48 p.m., Monday, March 6, 2017 at OSF St. Anthony Hospital in Alton.
Born in Kutta, KY on May 23, 1930, he was the son of Andrew and Amey (Futurial) Manus.
A Korean War army veteran, he worked as a forklift operator for General Motors for over 31 years before retiring in 1995. He was a member of Alton VFW Post 1308.
He married Frances Purcy and then Frances Meadows, both who preceded in death.
Surviving are a son, William Jr. (Sheila) Manus of Alton; two daughters, Barbara Wyzard of Alton, Amey (Troy) Fraser of Wood River; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
His wives; two brothers, Robert and Andrew Manus; and three sisters, Mary Jennings, Eliza Macklin and Rosie Davison preceded in death.
A Celebration of Life visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 11 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
Private interment will be in New Hope Cemetery in St. Louis.
