William Munden

William “Bill” Brian Munden, 76, of Collinsville, IL, born July 20, 1949, in Granite City, IL, passed peacefully surrounded by his children, at Memorial East Hospital, Shiloh, IL.

Mr. Munden was a United States Army Veteran and proud recipient of the Purple Heart. Bill later worked as an auditor for the Office of Inspector General of the United States Department of Defense before retirement. He was an avid reader and especially enjoyed reading the Bible. Bill was a St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan and a Pittsburgh Steeler football fan. He also enjoyed American History and Military History.

He was preceded in death by his wife Janice, nee Schmitz, Munden; and his parents, George and Mariam, nee O’Deppe, Munden.

He is survived by two sons, Bryan D. Munden of Atlanta, GA and Jason (Cindy) Munden of Smithboro, IL; two daughters, Nicole (Jason McGrew) Munden-McGrew of Collinsville, IL and Melissa (Raymond) Hill of Collinsville, IL; and three grandchildren Mackenna and Holden Munden, and Chase Hill.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2026, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2026, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Jason McGrew officiating. 

Burial with military honors will be at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.
