William Higgins

William “Mike” Higgins, 69, passed away, on Monday, October 30, 2017, at his home in Alton.He was born October 5, 1948, in Hannibal, Illinois, the son of William L. and Vivian I. (Mayes) Higgins.Mike married the love of his life, Brenda S. Davidson on October 10, 1970, at Alton Lutheran Church. She survives.He was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves.Prior to retirement in 2005, Mike was an operator/foreman for Shell Oil Co. in Wood River for 27 years. He was ordained as a minister in 1977 and was an elder at Bethel Pentecostal in Rosewood Heights. He enjoyed fishing, golf, preaching, worshipping the Lord, and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.In addition to his wife, survivors include three children, Debra Martin of Alton, Jeremy Higgins of Alton, Sean Higgins and his wife Amber of Bunker Hill; three grandchildren, Kara Deck and her husband, Garrett, Cheyann Higgins, Liam Higgins; and one sister and her husband, Cindy and David Marshall of Carmi, Illinois.He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral service at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 3, 2017, at Bethel Pentecostal in Rosewood Heights with Pastor Royce Roy.A military solute will be provided by Alton VFW post # 1308.Memorials may be made to Bethel Pentecostal or Cancer Treatment Center of America in Tulsa, OK.An online condolence and guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com.
