William Aery

William J. Aery, 86, died at 6:41 a.m. on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.  He was born January 30, 1931 in Lincoln, IL the son of Theodore Forrest and Alberta (Reynolds) Aery.  Mr. Aery retired as Vice President of the Northern Division of Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. He always enjoyed collecting Pepsi memorabilia.  He was a member of Saint Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey, the Godfrey Lions Club, served on the Madison County Board and later was Madison County Treasurer.   He and his wife enjoyed traveling in their RV and spending winters in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  On December 28, 1972 in Alton he married Charlene (Gammaitoni) and she survives.  Also surviving are three children, Mark Aery of Brooksville, FL, Gail Hill (Alan) of Sharpsburg, GA and Neil Aery (Pam) of Godfrey, six grandchildren, Justin Dean Hill, Justin Ian Acker, Matthew Ryan Hill, Maggie, Cassidy and Sophia Aery, and one great granddaughter, Callie Marie Acker.   Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Michael J. Aery, and five siblings, Norman Aery, Raymond Aery, Ronald Reynolds, Phillip Leonard Aery and Gertrude “Trudy” Aery.   Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of Memorial service at 11:00 a.m.  on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.  Burial will be private.  Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose School in Godfrey.  Additional information and online guest book may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
