William Hilliard “Bill” Thomas, 90 of Glen Carbon, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at his home in Meridian Village in Glen Carbon.
William was born on February 29, 1928 in Greenville, Illinois; the son of the late Tollie and Mary (Hilliard) Thomas. William was a sales manager and marketing manager for BASF. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Dardenne, Missouri and a member of the Ambassadors in St. Louis. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois class of 1949 and served as chairman of the board of Beverly Farm Foundation. Most of all William loved his family and will be remembered for all the special times he shared together.
William is survived by and will be missed by his wife; Sally Ann (Yates) Thomas, who were united in marriage on May 15, 1954; his son, Richard (Linda) Thomas of Lake Lenavana, Michigan; daughter, Deborah Thomas of Godfrey, Illinois and numerous nieces, nephews and other close family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his sisters; Virginia Cline and Rosemary Wagner.
In celebration of William’s life, a visitation will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain Brad Thomas officiating at Meridian Village Chapel, 101 Evergreen Lane in Glen Carbon, with a reception to follow for family and guest at Meridian Village. Burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested to Beverly Farms.
Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon is serving the family.
