William “Bill” Dean Gotter, 54, of Brighton, was in a tragic accident on April 13th and passed away on Friday, April 24, 2026, at St. Louis University Hospital.
He was born on August 12, 1971, in Alton the son of John Wayne and Edna “Betty” (Cole) Gotter.
Bill was an electrical mechanical engineer and owned Gotterbuilt Machine and Welding Shop. He was proficient at welding, fabricating, manual machining and digital communications and more. His inventions can be viewed at Gotterbuilt on Youtube. In is younger years he was an avid fisherman, and he loved music. Bill never stopped missing Monster, his beloved Doberman companion.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Gotter of Godfrey; two brothers, Micah John Gotter of Godfrey and David Wayne Gotter of Brighton; several nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his father John Wayne Gotter and his sister Carina Beth Gotter.
Visitation will be held from 5 pm until the time of memorial service at 6 pm on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.
A private family burial will take place on a later date at Brighton Cemetery.
