William Clark

William Glenard Clark, 85, died at 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Willow Rose in Jerseyville. He was born April 10, 1932 in Alton the son of Glenard and Ethel (Waters) Clark. He was in the Army National Guard and served in Korea. William was a security guard for Duncan Foundry and later a custodian for the Southwestern School District where he retired in 1995. He enjoyed fishing, camping and model trains. On December 5, 1953 in East Alton he married Dolores L. (Emmons) and she survives. Also surviving are two children, Connie Clark-Eaton (Rodney) of Godfrey and Gary Clark of Godfrey, one grandchild, Tristan Eaton, one brother, Blake Clark of Arkansas and two sisters, Betty Brewer of Arkansas and Claire Gillespie (Terry) of Idaho. He was preceded in death by one brother, Bernard Clark. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017 with Reverend Dave Burger Officiating at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery with full military honors by Alton VFW Post 1308. Memorials may be made to the 5A’s animal shelter.
