William Edward Lee, 75, passed away at 3:22 am Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born November 18, 1940 in Joliet, Illinois, the son of William and Helen (Carter) Lee.
He married Carolynn M. (Wheeler) Lee on July 1, 1962. She preceded him in death on June 1, 2013.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert O. Lee, and a half-sister, Phyllis G. Maul.
William was a member of the Alton Eagles Aerie 254 for over 30 years. He was also a member of the Alton Laborer’s Local 218 and the Bushpilots Motorcycle Club for over 40 years. He was also a rifleman in the U.S. Marine Corps. He loved riding motorcycles, fishing, and hunting in Colorado where he met some wonderful friends he also considered as family. For anyone who really knew him, you know that he was also a lifetime member of - The I will tell you exactly what I’m thinking whether you like it or not club.
He is survived by four children that he loved very much, Michael Lee of Alton, Debra Lee of Alton, Catherine “Trina” and husband, David Harris, of Godfrey, and Billie Lee of Alton.
He was the proud grandfather of Vincent and Brandi Brinson, Heather Lee, and William “Billy” Harris. He also had three great-grandchildren Vincent Brinson Jr., Brendan Lee, and Jordin Phillips.
He leaves behind two brother-in-laws, Patrick Wheeler (Marcia) and Michael Wheeler (Barb), all of Godfrey.
He retired from Alton Laborer’s Local 218.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 16th, 2016 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 17th, 2016 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Godfrey Cemetery in Godfrey, IL.
