William Brakeville

William E. Brakeville, age 73, of Alton, passed away Monday, December 12, 2016, at Alton Memorial Hospital.He was born January 1, 1943, in Jerseyville, the son of Merwyn and Helen (Isringhausen) Brakeville. He married Nancy Skundrich on July 21, 1990 in East Alton and she survives.William had served as a Police Officer with The City of Alton for twenty-seven years. He was a member of the Alton Moose Lodge, and the VFW Post #1308. In his younger years, he enjoyed racing stock cars. William enjoyed bass fishing, wood working, and hunting rattle snakes.In addition to his wife, Nancy; he is survived by five children and their spouses, Bill and Kim Brakeville Jr. of St. Genevieve, MO, Daniel and Gigi Brakeville of Vancouver, WA, Richard Brakeville of DeSoto, MO, Michael and Amy Allen of Wood River, and Erica and Frankie Duich of Wood River; eight grandchildren, Juliana, William, Heather, Joseph, T.J., Brenden, Hannah, and Alise; and two great-grandchildren, Heidi and Holden.He is preceded in death by his parents.A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.Online condolences may be made at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
