William "Bill" Theisen, 87, died at 12:00 noon Thursday, November 29, 2018 at his home in Alton.
Born November 5, 1931 in Alton, he was the son of William J. and Edna Mae (Harris) Theisen.
Bill served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict and retired after 33 years as Assistant Fire Chief from the Alton Fire Department. After retirement, he volunteered on the Fosterburg Fire Department, serving as Assistant Fire Chief and Fire District Trustee.
On January 29, 1954 he married the former Wanda Siddens in Alton. She survives, as well as five children, Hope Theisen-Claxton of Wood River, Tammie Emons (Cliff) of Alton, Genevieve Ann Tindall (Scott) of Alton, William Theisen (Robin) of Jerseyville, and Thomas Theisen of Alton. Also surviving are two sisters, Esther Hise and Dorothy Palmer.
Grandchildren: Brandon Louvier, Elizabeth Benoodt, Alexandra Theisen-Sunga (Khristian), Jacob Benoodt, Gary Claxton, Thomas Theisen (Emily), Emily Theisen, Anastasia Theisen, Margaret Emons, Megan Theisen, Emily Elizabeth Bosarge (David), Rachel Horn (Cody), Pierce Tindall, Brayden Tindall, and Ian Tindall. Great Grandchildren: Nicholas Claxton, Jamie Claxton, Cora Horn and Della Louvier. Several Nieces and Nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by siblings Albert Theisen, Wilma McAninch and Genevieve Loy.
Memorial Service will be held at Abundant Life Community Church Thursday, December 6, 2018, 2:00 p.m.
