William Mundy

William F. Mundy, 56, died at 7:50 a.m., Saturday, April 22, 2017 after a short battle with colon cancer, with his family by his side.Bill was born in Carrollton on July 22, 1960, the son of Sherman and Mamie Irene (Mehlberg) Mundy.Bill grew up on the outskirts of Kane, and learned early on the value of hard work and honesty.  For several years he worked as a custodian at the First Assembly of God in Jerseyville, and after several years of subbing when needed, Bill was hired in the custodial department at Jersey Community High School, where he was proud of his work and performed it everyday with his trademark smile.Bill loved Jesus, and took comfort in the knowledge that he would spend eternity with him.  His family here, meant the world to him, and he cherished every moment spent with them.   It was never about him, as he always made sure everyone else had what they needed or what they wanted without concern for himself.He is survived by three daughters and sons in law, Rebecca and Kenneth Herrin of Cottage Hills, Pamela Mundy of Jerseyville, Krista and Skyler Kallal of Jerseyville;  a son, William Mundy of Jerseyville; five grandchildren, Lucas, Jacob, Nathan, Brooke and Logan; a sister and brother in law, Sherry and Steve St. Aubin of Edwardsville; two brothers and a sister in law, Gary Mundy of Kane and Harry and Melanie Mundy of Kane; along with his companion, Tina Brandt of Granite City.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John T. Mundy of June 3, 2016; a nephew, Justin Mundy; and his stepfather, Jerome Narup.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday.   Rev. John Gibson will officiate.Burial will be in the Kane Cemetery, alongside his parents and brother.Memorials may be given to Love A Child, an organization dedicated to better the lives of the children of Haiti, a cause that was particularly important to Bill.
