William “Bill” H. Dorsey, passed away peacefully in his sleep, at his home on November 1, 2017, at the age of 91.Bill was born August 21, 1926, on the family farm in Moro, son of the late Maurice “Dick” and Ida (Manns) Dorsey.Bill married his first wife, of 38 years, Grace P. (Highlander) on November 17, 1946, at Eden United Church of Christ in Edwardsville. She preceded him in death on October 21, 1984. He then married his second wife, Henrietta J. (McRae) at Meadowbrook Baptist Church on October 10, 1985. She survives.He lived on and farmed the family farm, in Moro, his entire life. During his life, he was active in the community: he served on the Edwardsville School Board, sold insurance, was assessor of Moro Township, served on and was past president of The Madison County TB Board, Moro Cemetery Association, Montgomery County Mutual Insurance, a member of Madison County Farm Bureau, and Mid America Dairymen’s Association. He was a life-long member of Moro Presbyterian Church and was a ruling elder there for many years.In addition to his wife, survivors include his children and their spouses, Patty Cooper of Edwardsville, Jeanne (Kirk) Johnson of Moro, Marcella (Robert) DiPaolo of Bethalto, Bruce (Rosemary) Dorsey of Moro, John (Christy) Dorsey of Maryville, Kristine Belden of Palatine; four step children and their spouses, Jerry (Terri) McRae of Woodburn, Jackie Ladd of Wood River, Julie Swaringim of Humble, TX, and Jody (Joy) McRae of Moro; 32 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; and one sister, Joan Roley of Bellingham, WA.In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Dorsey; one sister, Jean Cooper; and one grandson, Joseph DiPaolo.Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 5, 2017, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 6, 2017, at Moro Presbyterian Church with Pastor J.
