Wilda Lanter

Wilda R. Lanter, nee Broussard, 93, of Swansea, IL, born November 27, 1931, in Port Arthur, TX, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Addington Place of Shiloh, Shiloh, IL.

Mrs. Lanter had worked as an insurance biller and retired from St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville IL. She was a member of St. Peter’s Cathedral Catholic Church, Belleville, IL. Wilda loved sewing, crocheting, and cooking. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Donald Edward Lanter, whom she married on October 4, 1952, in San Diego, CA, and who died on April 10, 2015; a son, Wayne Lanter; her parents, Polk and Agatha, nee Bonin, Broussard; a son-in-law, Bob Leveling; two brothers, Raymond Broussard and David Broussard; and a sister, Jeanette Bradley.

Surviving are six children, June (Richard) Herschbach, Michael Lanter, Steven (Vicki) Lanter, Barbara Leveling, Kevin (Cathie) Lanter, and Gregory (Marivie) Lanter; a daughter-in-law, Patty (Al) Schilling; numerous grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a brother, James (Sandy) Broussard; two sisters, Kay Broussard and Marie Kennedy; a sister-in-law, Joann “Susie” Lanter; numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Cathedral Catholic Church or Food For The Poor. Condolences may be expressed online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2025, at St. Peter’s Cathedral Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2025, at St. Peter’s Cathedral Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Fr. Godfrey Mullen, OSB officiating.

Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL, at a later date.
