Wendell Cunningham

Wendell Lee Cunningham, 80, died at 6:15 a.m. Sunday, December 9, 2018 at his home in Alton. 

Born September 1, 1938 in Harrisburg, IL, he was the son of Jesse Loial and Lattie Jane (Davis) Cunningham. Mr. Cunningham served with the U.S. Army in Korea from 1959-1961 in the First Calvary Division and was a member of the Alton Road Runners Association.  He retired in 1993 as a police office for the Alton Police Department. 

Surviving is a daughter, Stephanie Cunningham of Alton, three grandchildren, Jordan Jones of Lebanon, MO, Ayreonna Scott (Tyrel) of Branson, MO, and Shaylea Frasier of Alton, two great grandchildren, Brantley and Sawyer both of Missouri, a brother, Jesse Thomas Cunningham (Dee) of Bunker Hill, and two sisters, Mary Cunningham of Bethalto and Laura Elizabeth Feazel of Hardin.  Also surviving are dear friends, Allen Tuetken and Jim Hanlon. 

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Cunningham and a son, John Cunningham. 

The family would like to thank the Southern Illinois Hospice especially, Karen Feldhaus. 

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the chapel at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. 

Pastor David Goins will officiate. 

Memorials may be made to the 5A’s Animal Shelter.
