Wayne Seehausen

Wayne Eugene Seehausen, 76, died unexpectedly at 6:12 a.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at his home in Jerseyville.

He was born on December 19, 1949 in Carrollton, Illinois, the son of the late Stanley Clayton and Geneva Elizabeth “Gen” (Seidler) Seehausen. He was raised in Fieldon and graduated from Jersey Community High School. He later enlisted in the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam War, where he was a member of the elite Company E, 75th Ranger Regiment.

Wayne married Bonnie Wittman on October 9, 1970 in Jerseyville, and together they built a life centered around family, hard work and love. Their marriage was blessed with four children, and over the years their family grew to include grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him endless pride and joy.

Wayne was a carpenter by trade, operating his own business for many years and working with Labor Local #664. He was an incredibly talented construction worker who could build or fix just about anything with his hands. He took pride in his work and in providing for his family, and he was known as someone who was always willing to lend a hand when someone needed help.

He enjoyed hunting, drinking Stag beer, and making his well-loved trips to Montauk State Park where he spent many days fishing and making memories. He also looked forward to his Thursday meetings with his friends at DJ’s Pub and Grill in Jerseyville, where there was always laughter, stories and plenty of joking around.

Wayne was known as the biggest joker you could ever meet. Half the time you had to wonder if he was telling the truth or just messing with you, and he loved to keep people guessing. He had a way of making people laugh and feel comfortable, and he never missed an opportunity to tell a story or pull a prank. His humor, his stories and the way he could make everyone around him smile will be remembered and missed by all who knew him. There will never be another one like him.

More than anything, Wayne loved his family. His wife Bonnie, his girls, his late son, and all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the center of his world. He was proud of each of them and loved them beyond words. He was a source of love, laughter and strength for his family, and the memories he leaves behind will be cherished forever.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Seehausen; three daughters, Jody Jackson, Terah Pohlman (Clayton Marlow) and Rhonda (Randy) Johnisee, all of Jerseyville; his grandchildren, Amanda (Stephen) Knight, Jessica (Landon) Godar, Gracie Pohlman, Clayton Poppe (Bella Metzler), Anna (Brenden) Marshall, Aiden Johnisee and Drew Jackson; his great-grandchildren, Ruthie, Cora and Jack Knight, Caroline Godar and Finlee, Bodi and Lovelynn Jackson; a brother and sister-in-law, Gerald “Jerry” and Rosemary Seehausen of Jerseyville; as well as his large family of in-laws from the Wittman family whom he loved dearly, George “Butch” Wittman, Jerry (Kathy) Wittman, Becky (Lewie) Miles, Helen (Ronald) Medford, Neal (Cindy) Wittman, all of Jerseyville, Hope (Randy) Gibson of Alton, Minette (Bob) Griffith of Godfrey, Vincent (Kay) Wittman and Gene (Jackie) Wittman, all of Jerseyville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William “Bill” Seehausen; a brother and sister-in-law, Terry Seehausen and Sue Gray; sisters-in-law, Marybelle Seehausen, and Margaret Wittman; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Mary Ann “Mayme” Wittman; nephews, Christopher (Vicki) Seehausen and Shad Gibson; a niece, Cynthia Hayes; and a great-nephew, Mark Wittman; along with two special family members Jonny Laing and Taylor Cummines.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m., Sunday, March 29, 2026 at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, March 30, 2026 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville, with Father Ramesh Matta officiating.
