Wayne Edward Snider, 85, died at 1:15 p.m., Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, after a period of declining health.He was born in Hardin on July 13, 1930, and was one of two sons born to George & Callie (Blackwell) Snider.He graduated from Hardin High School, and served his country admirably with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.He was employed as a union electrician for many years through the IBEW Local 649-Alton, retiring in 1992.He was a devoted and loving family man, who was always particular about whatever he did, and was particularly protective of his pecan trees from the pesky squirrels.He was the "go to" guy in the family, and was the dependable Dad and Grandpa who was willing and able to fix anything that came his way. Wayne was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jerseyville, was very proud of his church, and was known to be of assistance in any capacity necessary.He married the former Rita Ann Sinclair on Oct. 20, 1952 in the St. Francis Catholic Church Rectory in Jerseyville, and together they were the parents of four children and shared 26 years together before her death on Jan. 8, 1979. He then married Theresa M. (Roth) Loellke on April 17, 1982 in Jerseyville, and the two have been blessed with 34 years together.Surviving are his wife, Theresa Snider of Jerseyville; three daughters & sons in law, Renee & Steve Elliott of Jerseyville, Brenda & Tom Kelly of Aldie, Va., Denise & Rick Bock of Jerseyville; a son & daughter in law, Bruce & Shelly Snider of Jerseyville; three step children & their spouses, Mary & Tom Berry of Fuquay-Varina, NC., Chuck Loellke of Jerseyville, and Cindy & Mike Williamson of Jerseyville; 12 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren (and two on the way); 8 Step Grandchildren and 10 Step Great Grandchildren.In addition to his parents, and wife, Rita Snider, he was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Callie Renee Pride; and his only brother, Omar Snider.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Jerseyville, with Rev. MarkStrothman officiating.He will be laid to rest in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Jerseyville, with the Jerseyville American Legion Post 492 conducting military graveside rites.Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church in Jerseyville.
