Wanda Gibbons

Wanda S. Gibbons, 79, died at 8:08 AM on Friday, August 9, 2019, at Mari De Villa in Town & Country, MO. She was born December 9, 1939, in Vandalia, MO the daughter of the late Paul E Wolfe and Mildred “Ruth“ (Henry) Wright Wolfe.  On April 27, 1963, she married James H. “Jim“ Gibbons Jr. 

 For 27 years Wanda took great pleasure working at the Alton Schnucks store as a checker. She had numerous regular customers who didn’t mind waiting for her in line even when other lines were available. It was the interaction as well as the service that made her feel happy and needed.

Surviving Wanda are two daughters, Susie Gibbons (Lindsay Walden) of St.  Peters, MO, and PJ Farmer (Jason) of Chesterfield, MO, four grandchildren, Chance “CJ” Crump, Hiley A. Crump, James D. “Jimmy” Farmer and Jordan D. Farmer, and three great-grandchildren, Nora Sexton, Sawyer Sexton, and Milo Drainer. She was preceded in death by her husband on October 5, 1990, and her son, Chance Gibbons, on September 25, 2018.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 11, 2019, from 2 PM to 6 PM at Gent funeral home in Alton where funeral services will be Monday, August 12, 2019, at 1 PM with Fr.  Jeromie Paul M., OMB officiating. Burial will be at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Alton.
