Wanda L. Evans, 80, passed peacefully on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Christian Hospital Northeast.
Born February 19, 1938, she was the daughter of Irvin and Myrtle (Bettis) Schofield. She was raised and lived in Carrollton, IL until she married and moved to the Rosewood Heights, IL area.
Wanda retired from Country Companies, where she had worked as an insurance claims adjuster. She was a warm, caring woman. She was loved by many, and will be deeply missed.
She was a mother to two daughters, Sherry (Bob) Conreux and Shelly Hanko; Grammie to four grandchildren, Angela Capps (Joe) Buffa, Michael Capps, Michelle Hanko, and Shannon Hanko; Great Grammie to two great grandchildren, Jack Buffa and Grace Buffa; a sister to Christine (Larry) Meek; and a very special love to Robert Rigdon. She was also an aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was a true caring friend to many?some lifelong and some made throughout her lifetime.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Myrtle Schofield; father, Irwin and second mother Edith Schofield; a sister, Lucy Hester; a brother, Gary ?Red? Schofield; and her children?s father, Carroll Eugene Evans.
Visitation will be Monday, September 24 at Paynic Home for Funerals in East Alton from 11 a.m. until services begin at 1 p.m.
Burial will follow at Woodland Hill Cemetery in East Alton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital or Shriner?s Hospital for Children.
