Walter Holmes

Walter Clarence Leslie Holmes, 63, passed away at 7:02p.m., November 8, 2017 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.He was born in Staton, Virginia on November 4, 1954, the son of Walter C and Elizabeth (Baxter) Holmes, both expired as well.He worked as a truck driver for many years, and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.He is survived by a son, Walter (Renetta) Holmes of Gillespie, Illlinois and 3 daughters, Jenny Robbins of Springfield, Illinois, Crystal (Don) Brown of Gillespie, Illinois, Alice (Anthony) Ferrero of Litchfield, Illinois; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Jean, Dottie and Cindy; and 3 brothers, Melvin, Roy and Raymond.He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Ayres, a sister Dale Pruitt, and a great granddaughter Nevaeh Morgan.Visitation will be on Saturday, November 11, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 5:00 p.m. at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of the arrangements.Online condolences and guest book may be found at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home
