Virginia Reed

Virginia Mae Reed, 95, died at 7:17 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at her son’s residence.  She was born July 31, 1922 in Alton the daughter of John and Grace (Glohr) Kremer.  She was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ in Godfrey, worked at JC Penney for many years, enjoyed spending time with Leisure Friends and was a huge baseball and football fan, she especially enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals.  On  August 11, 1943 in New York City she married Ivan Reed and he preceded her in death on May 5, 1995.  Surviving are one son, Keith Reed (Becky) of Carrollton, IL, six grandchildren, Tim Reed (Noelle), Madti Reed, Keven Reed (Heather), Matt Reed (fiancé’ Josilyn Reynold), Molly Reed and Amy Reed, two great grandchildren, Mabry Session and Gracelyn Session, and one daughter in law, Patricia Reed of Lander, Wyoming.  She was preceded in death by one son, Keven Reed, and two sisters, Dorothy Handler and Evelyn Rowden.  Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2017.  Reverend Jerry MeCaskey will officiate.  Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.  Memorials may be made to Evangelical United Church of Christ in Godfrey.  Additional information and online guest book may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
