Virginia M. Bond, 87 passed away unexpectedly at 2:07 pm, Monday, June 16, 2014 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
She was born on October 31, 1926, in Alton the daughter of the late John T. and Lima M. (Whiteside) Weigler.
Virginia married John S. Bond Jr. on August 19, 1944 in Rosewood Heights, IL. He preceded her in death on January 8, 1975.
One of her greatest joys was being a volunteer for ten years, with the Foster Grandparent program and working with the wonderful children and their teachers.
She is survived by a daughter; Rita M. (Bond) Teague, a son and his spouse; Jeffery A. and Deborah Bond, all of Alton; a granddaughter; Bethany L. Bond of Swansea, two grandson’s; Jeremy A. Bond of Glen Carbon and Sean T. and Danielle Teague and her two great grandchildren; Johnny and Annabelle of Springfield, VA, and many nieces and nephews and their extended families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers’; John William and Eugene Weigler and two sisters’; Eileen Schildroth and Norma Sellier.
Visitation will be from 11 am until time of memorial service at 1 pm, Friday, June 20, 2014 at Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, with Virginia’s nephew, Pastor Leonard Schildroth officiating.
Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery in Alton.
Per her wishes cremation rights were accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorial’s may be directed to the Foster Parent Program at Senior Services Plus.
