Virginia Alice Ele Lawrence, 101, passed away 3:15 am, Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Alton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Born November 24, 1918 in Alton, she was the daughter of Louis T. and Clara E. (Thompson) Ennis.
She had worked as a medical receptionist for Dr. Harry Miittleman for 33 years before retiring in 1984.
Surviving are six grandchildren, Rhonda (Scott) Perkinson, Alice Kay (Mike) Beckham, Janet Schmidt, Terry Ele, Byron Ele and Stacey Ele (Jason) Stroud; seven great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and two nieces, Linda Torrez and Delores Jean Massingill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, James Ele, Richard Ele, Terry Ele; and brother, James Ennis.
In accordance with her wishes, an Anatomical Donation to St. Louis University School of Medicine was accorded.
