Virginia Canan Foster, 82, passed away at 7:05 pm on Saturday, January 21, 2012, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born in Lafayette, Indiana on January 16, 1930, the daughter of the late Richard Dean and Inez (Richardson) Canan.
On July 29, 1950, Ginny married Dennison D. Foster Jr., in Lafayette, Indiana. He survives.
She graduated from Stephens Jr. College and attended Purdue University where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She was a past president of the Junior Service League of Alton, an active Red Cross volunteer, and a long time member of Community Service League. Ginny also was a member of P.E.O. Chapter GG and First Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her husband, Denny Foster, she is also survived by two daughters, Ann Lukes and husband Rob of Carmel, Indiana and Sarah Kee and husband Bob of Kerrville, Texas. Ginny is survived not only by her two daughters, but 5 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Melissa and Nicholas Lukes, Tyler Kee and Anne Kee. She will be fondly remembered also by her caregiver Laura Morgan and husband Wayne.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter and infant son and her sister Elizabeth Canan Heath.
Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements. There will be a Celebration of Life February 4, 2012 at 2 pm at First Presbyterian Church in Alton.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ginny’s name may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Alton or BJC Hospice.
