Violet Wilson

Violet Deloris Wilson, 94, of Madison, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 9:06 a.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at her home. She was born September 2, 1931, in Thebes, Illinois, a daughter of the late James Wesley and Missie Elizabeth (Terrett) Miller.

On August 13, 1950, she married the love of her life, Victor “Gene” Wilson, in Olive Branch, Illinois, and together they shared 67 wonderful years of marriage until his passing on June 14, 2018. Violet was a devoted and longtime member of Second Baptist Church in Granite City.

She found joy in crocheting, gardening, and caring for her beautiful flowers. Above all, she cherished her family and will be lovingly remembered for the many special moments shared with family and friends.

She is survived by her six children and their spouses: Deloris Wilson of Madison; Linda Weinman of Creve Coeur, Missouri; Carl Wayne and Gail Wilson of Paducah, Kentucky; Ruth and Ed Henderson of Mascoutah; Jemes Wilson of Mitchell; and Rodger and Kim Wilson of Bolingbrook; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Irv Weinman, and four siblings: Talmedge Miller, Beryl Miller, Howard Miller, and Lelah Jackson.

Visitation in celebration of Violet’s life will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held there at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, with Reverend Chris Sedabres officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery on Maryville Road in Granite City.
