JERSEYVILLE – Viola Marie Lane, 91, died at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Robings Manor in Brighton.
She was born on December 7, 1925 in Calhoun County to the late William and Bessie (Geske) Hunt.
Viola grew up near Hardin and at the age of 18 married Oren William “Bill” Lane and together they spend the majority of their married life in the Calhoun County area and later in Nebo where they resided for many years before relocating to Jerseyville in 1991.
She and Bill were blessed with two children and 51 years of marriage before his death on May 20, 1996.
Viola worked as a Seamstress at Twin Cities Manufacturing in White Hall for many years before retiring, allowing her to devote much of her free time to relaxing along the river’s edge with her fishing pole in hand.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Lois & Rusty Bransetter of Bunker Hill; two granddaughters, Shanda & Chris Byer of New Berlin and Melissa Brogdon-Hammond of Alton; two great-granddaughers, Morgan and Macy Byer at home; two half-sisters, Bonnie & Alvin Chaffin of Prescott Valley, AZ and Biliie Edson of Glendale, AZ; and a beloved niece, Lori Zierden of Fontana, CA.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Eldon Wayne Lane in 1951 and a half brother, Jim Hunt.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1 p.m., Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville with Rev. Raymond Doussard officiating.
Burial will take place at the Grimes-Neeley Cemetery in Jerseyville.
