Viola Jewel Simpson, 93, of Bethalto, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at 1:30 am, at Bethalto Care Center.
She was born on July 17, 1925, in Buncombe, IL, the daughter of the late Clarence E. and Rosa O. (Mozley) Baker. She married John F. Simpson, Jr, on September 30, 1945 at Bible Baptist Church in Cottage Hills. He preceded her in death on January 18, 2008.
Viola was a member of the Agape Christian Fellowship of Godfrey. She loved to be very involved with her church and spend time with her family and friends, especially her siblings.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Dannie Simpson, Rhonda (Ed) Tobias and Karen (Pastor Terry) McKinzie; a sister Sandy Moody; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, Viola was preceded in death by two sons, Mike and Jim Simpson; three brothers, Charles, Robert and Clarence Baker; two sisters, Rosa JoAnn Macias and Jean Lucas; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Baker.
Visitation will be from 9:30 am until time of service at 11 am, on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, with Pastor Terry McKinzie officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
