Victoria “Vickie” MacDonald, 70, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 14, 2016, at her home with her loving husband of 50 years at her side.With the aid of her faith, she fought a long, courageous battle with ovarian cancer.Vickie graduated from Civic Memorial High School in Bethalto and attended Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, IL.  She retired from the J C Penney Company in 2012 with over 30 years of service, holding various supervisory positions. Vickie was a long time member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she served many years on the school board and attended various Bible classes. She is survived by her husband, James MacDonald; two sons, James Matthew MacDonald and his wife Alissa of Mattoon, IL, Marcus MacDonald and his wife Allison of Ballwin, MO; and three grandchildren, Ashlyn, Madison and Logan MacDonald. She was greatly anticipating the birth of her newest grandson in October. Vickie is also survived by a brother, Billy Jones and his wife Debbie of Rosewood Heights; a sister, Charlotte Sikes and her husband Joe Locklear of Bethalto, IL; a brother, Bruce Jones and his wife Carol of Centralia, IL; her mother-in-law, Verda MacDonald of Godfrey; brother-in-law John MacDonald and his wife Jan of Affton, MO; and numerous nephews and nieces.She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dorothy Jones; her father-in-law, Raymond MacDonald and her canine friend and loving companion Shelby Lynn.Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Thursday, August 18, 2016, at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto.Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11 am on Friday, August 19, 2016, at the Church with Pastor Mark Hofferber, Pastor William Meyer, and Pastor Kale Hanson, officiating.Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to ovarian cancer research: SLOCA 12015 Manchester RoadSuite 130St. Louis, Missouri 63131Or to the special needs fund at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto, ILOnline condolences and guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com.
