Verna C. Lack, 85, of Cottage Hills, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2019, at 6:53 pm at Rosewood Care Center.
She was born October 30, 1934, in Wood River, IL, the daughter of George and Maggie (Mitchell) Carroll. On June 30, 1953, Verna married Robert Nelson Lack in Alton, IL.
She was a partner of Airline Drive Storage. She worked at Owens IL Glass as a packer, and Central Hardware from the time it opened until the last day. Verna enjoyed woodcrafting with her husband, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Robert G. Lack (Linda) of Shipman, IL and Lillian E. Stinson of Cottage Hills; four grandchildren, R. Jason Lack (Ashley), David M. Walker (Traci), L. Joshua Stinson, and Maggie E. Stinson; four great-grandchildren, Kelsey Hayes, Drake Walker, Anniston Walker, Robert 'Rob' M. Lack; a sister, V. June Braudmeier of Fieldon, IL; a half-sister, Sue Ann Carroll, a nephew, Roger Carroll (Cathy) of Myrtle Beach, SC; along with several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Robert, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Gwendolyn Oliver; and a half brother, George Carroll.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 20, 2019, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2019, at 10:00 am at the Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
