Valarie Martin

Valarie Marie Martin, 26, died at 10:37 a.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at Barnes Jewish Hospital. She was born August 6, 1999 in Alton, the daughter of Mark Edward and Nancy Jean (Woods) Reathaford.

Valarie worked as a dietary aid with Bria of Godfrey. On May 4, 2019 in Bethalto, she married Wesley Martin and he survives. 

Also surviving are one daughter, Leah Martin, two sons, Ryder Martin and William Martin, grandparents, Vera Rose and John Reathaford and grandmother, Kathy Wheeler. 

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harry and Donneetia Woods, Jr. and William Wheeler and uncle, Harry Woods III. 

Visitation will be Friday, April 17, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. A private family burial will be at a later date.
