Travis Farmer DOW-   Travis Dee Farmer, 61, died at 2:15 a.m., Friday, May 5, 2017 at Alton Memorial Hospital, after experiencing declining heath since January.He was born in Alton on Sept. 28, 1955, and was one of four children born to Warren M. & Viriginai Lea (Estes) Farmer.Travis, or "Motorhead" as he was known to many, was raised in Dow, and graduated from Jersey Community High School.  He soon enlisted with the U.S. Air Force, where he was trained as a firefighter.  After his return back home, Travis married Terri Sue VanAusdoll on Oct. 29, 1982 at the First Baptist Church in Jerseyville.He has spent his adult working life as an over the road truck driver, spanning many miles across this country, staring with Hansen Trucking in Jerseyville, several others in between, and lastly with Jefferson Smurfit.He drove a truck for a living, but music was his passion.   God blessed Travis with tremendous talent, and he utilized them immensely, concentrating heavily on the guitar.   He was a member of several bands during his lifetime, and was currently a member of the band "Briar Creek".His love for people, and the close bonds that were established during these times, are memories that Travis had never forgotten.   If you were a friend of his, and there were many, he never forgot you.   His broad smile lit up any room, and verified to those around, that a good time was in their future.Friendship was important to Travis, and he will be deeply missed by those he touched.Surviving are his wife, Terri Farmer of Dow; a son, Joshua Newton of Jerseyville; three grandchildren, Ethan Newton, Lauren Newton  and Layleigh Newton; two brothers & a sister in law, Curt Farmer of Dow, and Cris & Beth Farmer of Dow;  nieces and nephews, Curt Jr., David, Jenna and Jennifer; his mother in law, Becky VanAusdoll of Jerseyville; and a sister in law, Jill Snyder of Carrollton.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Sara Marie Farmer on Oct. 12, 2006; a sister, Terri Lea Farmer in  1980; a niece, Terri Sue Farmer; and his father in law, Robert VanAusdoll.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, with Fred Summers officiating.He will be laid to rest in the Newbern Cemetery in Dow, with the Jerseyville American Legion Post 492 conducting military graveside rites.Memorials may be given to his family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
