Timothy Michael Holden, 63, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018 at his residence.

Born in Alton on May 29, 1955, he was the son of Harold "Bud" and Zita (Barnes) Holden of Alton.

Tim was kind-hearted and witty, always willing to help others. He enjoyed being outdoors and watching his grandchildren participate in sports.

Tim had been a funeral director and trade embalmer for many local funeral homes, including Marks Mortuary, Crawford Funeral Home, Mercer Funeral Home, Burke Funeral Home, Staten Funeral Home, Jacoby Funeral Home, Quinn Funeral Home.  Tim was considered to be one of the best embalmers in the area and was a mentor and tutor for many funeral directors and embalmers during their apprenticeships as a member of the Illinois Funeral Directors Association.

On September 13, 1975 in Alton, he married his high school sweetheart, Denise McGhee.  She survives.

Surviving in addition to his parents and wife are three daughters, Meghan Parker of Alton, Emilee Holden of Houston, TX, Rachel Jones of Alton; four grandchildren, Tyler Parker, Tyrriah Parker, Kai Jones, Kennedi Lumpkins Parker; brother, Joseph (Wendy) Holden of Houston, TX; sister, Beth (Andy) Springman of Godfrey; several nieces, nephews, cousins and brothers and sisters in law.

His mother and father in law, Robert and Esther McGhee preceded in death.

Visitation will be from 1-5 pm, Sunday, August 12 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated qt 10 am, Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton.

Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Godfrey.

Memorials may be made to Alton Memorial Hospice Program or a charity of one's choice.
