Thomas Spurgeon, 77, passed away, on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, in Eureka, Missouri, with his family by his side.He was born February 2, 1940, in Alton, Illinois, the son of Joseph H. and Theresa C. (Balke) Spurgeon.  Thomas married Linda Sue Tarrant on December 1, 1962, in Rosewood Heights, Illinois. She survivesThomas was a Knights of Columbus insurance agent for 35 years prior to his retirement in 2010. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto and a past member of St. Kevin Catholic Church for 40 years.In addition to his wife, survivors include two children and their spouses, April and Jeff Myers of Eureka, Missouri, Thomas and Becky Spurgeon of Pocahontas, Illinois; five grandchildren, Brian (Sarah) Kalkbrenner, Andrew (Gabe) Kalkbrenner, Emily Kalkbrenner, Thomas (Nichole) Spurgeon, Molly (Jacob) Safford; six great grandchildren, Brianne, Riley and Tyler Kalkbrenner, Macie and Mia Safford, Lucas Kalkbrenner; siblings and their spouses, Joe Claxton of Rosewood Heights, Bill (Barb) Spurgeon of Florissant, MO, Rose (Ron) Beiermann of Bethalto, IL.He was preceded in death by his parents; six siblings, Joe Spurgeon, John Spurgeon, Joseph Spurgeon, Helen Claxton, Emma Jean Auten, and Leona Hohnsbehn.Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, February 12, 2017, at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 13, 2017, at the funeral home with Fr.
