Thomas Sims

Ralph T. “Tom” Sims, 78, of Swansea, IL, born Friday, June 13, 1947, in East St. Louis, IL, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2025 at home, surrounded by his loving family.

A proud Vietnam veteran, Tom served his country with honor and courage. After his time in the service, he lived life with a spirit of adventure and fun. He loved the thrill of a good game-whether it was playing the slots at the casino, trying his luck at bingo, or enjoying a day of fishing by the water. Tom found his greatest joy in time spent with his family. Lovingly known as “Paw Paw” by his grandchildren, he brought warmth, wisdom, and laughter into their lives.

Tom was a devoted employee of Watson Coatings, where he took great pride in his work and found joy in every task. Outside of work, he cherished visits with his grand-dogs-especially Cairo, Bambi, and Khaleesi-whose company always brought a smile to his face.

Tom will be remembered for his sense of humor, his love of excitement, and devotion to his family. His presence brought laughter and light to every room, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
