Thomas Womack

Thomas Leo Womack, 82, died at 12:23 a.m., Monday, March 5, 2018 at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home.He was born in Grafton, Illinois on November 16, 1935, one of three sons born to Thomas Franklin and Muriel Mary (Harp)Womack.He was raised in Grafton, and graduated from the three year Grafton High School, and finished his senior year at Jersey Community High School, graduating with the Class of 1953.He worked for thirty years as a machine operator at Owens-Illinois in Alton until the plant closure, at which time he finished out his working career serving as a custodian at East Elementary with the Jersey Community Unit School District #100.He married the former Betty Isringhausen on November 22, 1953 at the former Peace Evangelical and Reformed Church inJerseyville, and together they have shared a life that has spanned 64 years of marriage and a family that consisted of their three daughters.Surviving are his wife, Betty Womack of Jerseyville; his three daughters and sons in-law, Sherry and Roger Freand of Jerseyville, Cynthia and Chuck Taylor of Arcadia, Florida, and Linda and David Wright of Brighton; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Cory and Anne Freand of St. James, Mo., Josh and Holly Freand of Piasa, Jessica Hoffmann of Jerseyville, Katie and Matt Acord of Brighton, Andrew and Andrea Taylor of Pinellas Park, Fl., Hannah Taylor and Micah Taylor both of Arcadia, Fl.,; eight great grandchildren, Jacob, Zachary, Asher, Eli, Gunnar, Silas, Elayna and Titus; and two brothers and sisters in-law, Robert and Carol Womack of Wood River and David and Kara Womack of Grafton.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday.Burial will take place in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
