Thomas Lampe

Thomas A. Lampe, 79, of O’Fallon, IL, born on May 2, 1947, in MO, then adopted by Ferd and Martha Lampe, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 17, 2026, at his home in O’Fallon, IL.

Thomas’s childhood with his loving parents was happy. He grew up and lived his entire life in O’Fallon, IL. Thomas attended St. Clare Grade School and Althoff High School before going into the Seminary for a short time. He then joined the Air Force but received a medical discharge after 37 days.

Thomas was a lifelong Catholic and attended church religiously. He was a sacristan for many years, and he also read from his prayer book every evening.

It was shortly after his return home that he met his future wife, Anna “Penny” Pennington. They dated for almost a year, were married at St. Clare Church on June 6, 1967, and were married for 59 years.

Thomas worked most of his life as a janitor and groundskeeper at various businesses. He was a member of the O'Fallon Fire Department for 21 years, and he was a member of the O'Fallon Knights of Columbus for many years, as well as the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree. He loved his beer for many years, but he was never a mean drunk. Thomas also loved watching Jeopardy every day as well as old cartoons, The Three Stooges, and a lot of other programs.

Most people had no idea how intelligent Thomas was. He subscribed to several magazines like Astronomy and other publications of that type. Most importantly, Thomas was an all around good person who would help others when he could and was a good husband for all his married life.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Ferd and Martha Lampe (nee Husmann).

Left to cherish Thomas’s memory are his beloved wife, Anna Penny Lampe (nee Pennington); and several cousins.
