Thomas Young

Thomas E. Young, 75, of Godfrey, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018, at his residence.

Thomas was born on February 24, 1942, in Winchester, IL, the son of Elwood and Helen (Renner) Young. He married Judy A. (Griffin) Pilkington on September 7, 1992 in Godfrey, IL.  She survives.

Thomas retired from Olin Brass as a foreman.  Thomas served in the Army, in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 543 out of Patoka, IL. Thomas enjoyed camping, traveling and smoking cigars. He loved to spend time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Thomas is survived by a son, Mike (Katie) Young of Godfrey; a stepson, Dan (Cherri) Pilkington of Brighton; 3 grandchildren, Carson Young, Madelyn (Andrew) Hoxsie and Skylar Carroll; a great grandchild, Payson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carl (Carol) Griffin of Carlyle.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Francis Ballard.

Thomas will be cremated according to his wishes.  Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto are in charge of arrangements.
