Thomas Lee Borsch, age 76, of Shiloh, Ill., passed away September 8, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his dear family.
Born January 24, 1950 in East St. Louis, Tom attended Belleville schools and graduated from Belleville East High School where he was a standout baseball player. After attending the University of Missouri, he had a lengthy career in the transportation and logistics industry, first on the railroad and later with steamships. Tom was an avid fan of the St Louis Cardinals and Blues; he loved all music, with the Beatles and Tom Petty at the top of his list.
He will be missed by his family, as well as the backyard birds that Tom faithfully fed. He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Lucille Borsch; grandparents Francis and Phoebe Westwood, and Emil and Rosa Borsch; parents-in-law Gilbert and Ethel Offermann; and brothers-in-law Gary and Eric Offermann.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years Gwen (Offermann-Novak) Borsch of Shiloh; his son Thomas W. (Jennifer) Borsch and Ryan H. (Jayne Phillips) Borsch, all of O’Fallon; stepsons David Novak of St. Louis, Jeff (Denise) Novak) of Swansea, and Chris (Tara) Novak of O’Fallon; grandchildren Aiden and Liam Borsch, Riley (Garrett Hartel) Worthen, and Andrew Novak; brother-in-law Roger (Jennifer) Offermann; sisters-in-law Gale (Steve) Dias and Linda Offermann.
Memorial donations are suggested to BJC Hospice, Washington County Animal Shelter, or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 9 – 11 am, Friday, October 2, 2026 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O’Fallon, Ill. All are invited to a lunch gathering immediately following, until 2 pm, at Blessed Savior Lutheran Church, 1205 N. Lincoln Ave., O’Fallon. Procession will depart the church promptly at 2 pm, for a Graveside Service to begin at 2:30 pm, at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Belleville. All are welcome to attend any or all of the events/locations.
