Thomas William "Tom" Ahlmeyer, age 83 of Highland, IL, died Monday, August 4, 2025, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital (BJC) in Saint Louis, MO.
He was born on Friday, August 8, 1941, in Highland, IL, the son of Arnold and Melva (nee Wilke) Ahlmeyer.
On Saturday, September 19, 1964, he married Donna Marie Ahlmeyer (nee Daiber) at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Marine, Illinois, who passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019.
He was a member of St. James Catholic Church. He was also a member of Council #1580 Knights of Columbus, Highland, IL; American Legion Post #665, Past Commander, St. Jacob, IL; St. Jacob Lions Club, former member; St. Jacob Jaycees, former member; and a St. Jacob Park Board Member for a number of years.
Tom was born in Highland, IL; he grew up in St. Jacob, IL and graduated from St. Jacob High School in 1959. Following graduation, he served in the US Army Reserves for six years. He attended Barber College and then he cut hair for Clancey's Barber Shop in East St. Louis, IL, and afterward for Ozzie's Barber Shop in Highland, IL for five years. He then opened his own shop in St. Jacob in 1968. Tom worked for the U.S. Postal Service at the Highland U.S. Post Office for 25 years, retiring in 2001.
He and his wife had lived in St. Jacob, IL until moving to Highland in late 2018. Tom and Donna coordinated the Giving Tree at Christmas for the St. Jacob community for over 20 years. They had wintered in Florida since 2012. Their travels included cruises: Europe (Rhein River, France, etc.), Alaska, and the Panama Canal. They enjoyed watching their grandchildren's activities and sports. Other hobbies he enjoyed were collecting baseball cards, bowling, deep sea fishing, and playing baseball. For a number of years Tom coached Khoury League baseball.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL, with Father John P. Beveridge, officiating.
Interment will be at Keystone Cemetery in Saint Jacob, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made to Keystone Cemetery - St. Jacob; St. James Catholic Church - St. Jacob; or American Heart Association.
