Theresa "Jane" Jun, 80, went to be with the Lord at 4:20 am Wednesday, June 02, 2010 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
She was born on December 20, 1929 in Alton, IL, the daughter of Bernard & Ann Jane (Kavanaugh) Jun.
She worked as an executive secretary at the Alton Box Board, which became Jefferson Smurfit and now is Smurfit Stone for over 45 years until retiring in 1994. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. She was the secretary of the year in 1952 and a member of the National Secretary Association. She was a gifted oil painter and she also enjoyed making crafts especially ceramics. She also enjoyed playing the piano.
She is survived by one special nephew, Richard Jun and his wife Linda of Alton; one special niece, Carol Metzler and her husband John of Godfrey; six great nephews and nieces, Scott, Christopher, and Patrick Jun, Jill Gernigin and her husband Mike, William and Daniel Jun; five great great nephews and nieces, Taylor, Jacob, Dominic, Gabrielle and Madelyn Gernigin and special cousins in Ireland.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a beloved nephew, Steve Jun; one sister and life long companion, Ruth Jun Walter and a devoted brother, Bernard Jun.
Visitation will be from 9:30 am until service time at 10:30 am on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey, with Fr. Steve Pohlman officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey.
Memorials may be made to the 5 A’s.
Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton will be in charge of arrangements.
