Thad Robertson

Thad E. Robertson, age 69 passed away at 6:17 PM on Friday, September 8, 2017 at OSF St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton.  He was born on October 26, 1947 in Wood River the son of the late Harry and Margaret (Fox) Robertson.  Thad began his career at Shell Oil Company in 1973 and retired in 2005 from Conoco Phillips as an Instrument Technician.  A loving father and grandfather he was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Brighton.  He also loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing and gardening. On February 17, 1974 he married Vicki (Dietzel) in Wood River and she survives.  Also surviving are his daughter; Rosalind Robertson-Jones (Stephen) of Godfrey, his son; Christopher Robertson of Alton; two granddaughters; Madelyn and Maisey Jones, and a brother in law; Jerry Kienstra of Glen Carbon. Maddie and Maisey will always cherish the short time they had with their loving Pop Pop. He was preceded in death by his sister; Patricia Kienstra and his brother in law; Terry Dietzel.There will be a wake service at 4:00 PM followed by visitation until  8:00 PM on Friday, September 15, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 9:00 AM Saturday with Fr. Bill Kessler officiating.  Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.  Memorials may be given to the National Rifle Association.  Online guestbook and additional information may be found at www.gentfuneral.com
