Terry Collins

Terry L. Collins, lovingly known as “Papa,” passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, at the age of 69, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Born on June 6, 1956, in West Plains, Missouri, to Ermon D. Collins and Margaret Waterhouse Collins, Terry spent most of his life in the St. Louis area, residing in Bridgeton before settling in Granite City, Illinois, where he lived for the past two decades.

Terry was a devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather whose greatest joy in life came from the people he loved. He is survived by his devoted wife, Christine Collins; his children, Jennifer (Carl) Hughes, Jamie (Jimmy) Cameron, Troy (Ambur) Risinger, and Seanna Risinger. He was a proud and adoring Papa to his cherished grandchildren: Nathan Hughes, Ethan Risinger, Carson Cameron, Collin Hughes, Ian Risinger, Eli Hughes, Kynzlee Ray, and Kennedy Cameron—each of whom brought him endless pride and happiness.

Terry also leaves behind his beloved mother, Margaret Collins; his brother, Dave Collins; and his close cousin, Allen Wishman—each of whom will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ermon D. Collins; his brothers, Steve Collins and Mike Collins; and his sister, Vicki Pratt—all of whom he loved deeply and now joins in eternal rest.

Terry embraced life with quiet strength and a generous sense of humor. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, and camping—pastimes he often shared with those closest to him. A loyal fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals, Terry rarely missed a game. He shared a special bond with his faithful dog, Amelia, who was always by his side.

Those who knew Terry will remember his steady presence, kind heart, and unwavering love for his family. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 10:00 a.m until time of a memorial service at 12:00 noon with Pastor Alan Beuster officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Collins family and may be accepted at the funeral home.
